Janice Long Sessions

Janice Long’s contribution to music in the UK cannot be underestimated. She first joined Radio 1 in 1982 and later hosted the early evening show which was always a great show for listeners to hear something different to the mainstream chart music.

Sadly Janice Long died on Christmas Day 2021 and this show is a tribute to her amazing contribution to music.

Janice stayed working in radio right until the end, only recently I remember having Andy Bell from Ride on this show promoting his new album and then immediately tuning into Janice’s show afterwards where Andy also gave an interview.

Throughout her time on the show she had many artists record sessions for her show just like John Peel, this show features many of those sessions recorded over a 30 year period.

Hear session tracks from the likes of The Chameleons, The Cramps, The Cure, Felt, Arthur Lee & Love, The Cardiacs, Primal Scream, Jim Reid, The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Flatmates, The Fall, Cabaret Voltaire, The Weather Prophets, The Shop Assistants, The Primitives, The Bodines and The Blue Aeroplanes.
