We go back twenty years this week as The Zephyrs second longplayer is our featured album of the week.
When the Sky Comes Down It Comes Down on Your Head was released in September 2001 and features a whole host of guests including Barry Burns (Mogwai), Adele Bethel (Sons & Daughters), Rachel Goswell (Slowdive/Mojave 3/Minor Victories) and Sean O’Hagan (Stereolab).
The band had huge setbacks at the time of the release when their record label folded but that doesn’t stop this being an incredible album.
There’s also a session track from Broadcast recorded for the John Peel show in 2000 alongside loads of new releases and classics.
The track listing for the show is:
Dean & Britta – I’m Not A Young Man Anymore
The Zephyrs – Stargazer
Winter – All I Know
Mark Gardener – Story of The Eye (Ulrich Schnauss remix)
Broadcast – Echo’s Answer
The Zephyrs – Setting Sun (with Rachel Goswell)
Monster Movie – Shortwave
Beachy Head – Do Nothing
Cheval Sombre – Well It’s Hard
Curve – Freefalling
The Zephyrs – Modern Beats (with Adele Bethel)
MGMT – Siberian Breaks
