Radio show – 6th January 2021

Happy New Year and welcome to our first show of 2021.

The featured album of the week in this show seems to be an album that was massively ovberlooked at the time but is often on my turntable.

Black Hearted Brother was a change of direction for Neil Halstead after his solo and Mojave 3 albums, closer to his Slowdive roots in sound and possibly his first shoegaze album since Souvlaki twenty years earlier. We play several tracks from the album ‘Stars Are Our Home’ throughout the show.

With the news that The KLF are to add their back catalogue to streaming sites, I couldn’t miss an opportunity to play a tune by them on the show. We play a track by them recorded in 1989 at Heaven Nightclub in London.

There’s also a Cocteau Twins track recorded for the John Peel show in 1984 alongside tracks from the likes of The Velvet Underground, Lanterns on the Lake, Dean & Britta, Nothing, Cheval Sombre, The Telescopes and Julianna Barwick.
